Victoria Tells the Whole Truth

Chapter 14 - Victoria Tells the Whole Truth

Victoria pleaded guilty and testified against Richard and Nathan.

Her cooperation reduced her sentence.

Before reporting to prison, she asked to meet Claire.

Claire declined.

Victoria wrote a letter instead.

She admitted helping alter medical records and rehearsing the guardianship plan.

She also admitted standing outside the Ellis cottage because she believed Claire’s return would end the life Victoria had been promised.

“I thought our family owned this town because everyone depended on us,” she wrote. “I understand now that dependence was something we manufactured.”

Claire kept the letter in the legal archive.

She did not answer.

Victoria’s insight did not create access to the person she helped harm.

Years later, Victoria assisted investigators reviewing other guardianship cases.

The work mattered.
