Chapter 15 - The Master Bedroom Opens
Whitmore House became the Center for Consent and Medical Data Rights.
The master bedroom remained intact as an educational site.
The heavy curtains were removed.
The door could not lock from the outside.
The smart bed’s emergency archive was displayed through a transparent technical model, not through recordings of Clara’s distress.
Clara refused public use of the footage beyond court and training for authorized professionals.
“My worst morning is evidence, not entertainment.”
The room taught visitors how home health technology could protect or control depending on who owned the data.
Every device now required visible consent settings.
Emergency alerts went to independent advocates as well as family contacts.
The old biometric tablet entered the legal archive.
Emma helped design the visitor program.
She insisted tours begin in the corridor.
“That is where the first decision happened,” she said. “An alarm appeared. A powerful person said ignore it.”
The center trained household staff, nurses, technicians, judges, and families to recognize that privacy did not mean silence during danger.
