Eleanor’s Last Defense

Chapter 11 - Eleanor’s Last Defense

Eleanor admitted paying Nathan.

She claimed she asked him only to delay the trust announcement, not sabotage the staircase.

If Grace signed before the birth, Sterling Aeronautics would transfer half its voting power to employees.

Eleanor believed the company would collapse.

After the child’s birth, the family trust would keep control within Ryan’s household.

“You wanted our baby to become a legal container for your power,” Ryan said.

“I wanted your child to inherit what generations built.”

“Workers built it too.”

Eleanor insisted Nathan acted beyond instructions.

The payment record described “ensure postponement by any necessary family means.”

Grace read the phrase aloud.

“You gave him permission to understand the rest.”

Eleanor’s face broke.

She had not imagined Grace falling.

But she had hired a man whose entire life Arthur designed around removing inconvenient heirs.

Intent did not erase the system she used.

The board suspended Eleanor.

She attempted to resign quietly.

Grace refused.

The company released the payment record publicly.

Eleanor accused her of destroying the family.

Grace replied, “The family was destroyed every time truth required your permission.”

Nathan accepted a plea agreement that protected Olivia from public testimony.

He admitted forging documents, weakening the railing, and planning to frame Vanessa.

He denied intending serious injury.

The court would decide consequences.

Grace had another decision.

The trust deadline was midnight.

She could sign away half of Sterling control to employees.

Ryan placed the pen before her.

“It is your inheritance.”

Grace looked at the technicians, cleaners, mechanics, and pilots waiting outside the archive.

“No,” she said. “It is their missing ownership.”

She signed.
