The Sterling estate reopened as the Ellis-Sterling Center for Engineering Accountability.
The grand staircase remained.
The damaged section of railing was preserved behind glass.
A new handrail ran beside it, built by apprentice engineers and tested publicly.

Visitors often asked Grace whether walking near the staircase frightened her.

Hope learned to walk in the lower hall.
Ryan followed one step behind her with both hands ready.
