Vanessa’s Claim

Chapter 10 - Vanessa’s Claim

Vanessa agreed to speak after learning Claire had been found.

She confirmed Victor was her father.

Her mother worked as his executive assistant. Victor paid for Vanessa’s education but never allowed her to use the Vale name.

She grew up watching Claire receive the inheritance and public identity Vanessa believed should have been shared.

After Victor died, Vanessa found his surveillance archive and learned Olivia would control the company at thirty.

She approached Ethan with a plan.

He would marry Olivia.

Vanessa would manage the transfers.

Once Olivia was declared medically incapable during pregnancy, they would divide the shares and merge Sterling Hotels with Vale Holdings.

“Did you love Ethan?” Olivia asked.

Vanessa hesitated.

“I loved that he chose me privately.”

Olivia understood the trap.

Vanessa had accepted secrecy because it felt better than invisibility.

That did not excuse what she did.

Vanessa produced emails proving Ethan ordered Claire moved and authorized Olivia’s financial restrictions.

She also revealed that Ethan did not intend to share power.

The private jet contained a trust naming Vanessa as temporary beneficiary. Ethan planned to blame every forged document on her after leaving the country.

Vanessa had manipulated Olivia.

Ethan had manipulated Vanessa.

Victor had manipulated both family lines long before them.

Detective Ortiz offered no full immunity.

Vanessa accepted a plea agreement requiring restitution and testimony.

She asked Olivia whether they might someday speak as relatives.

“Not yet,” Olivia said.
