Chapter 06 - The Incidents That Happened Before They Happened
Investigators searched Vanessa’s laptop.
They found twelve future incident reports.
One described Lily breaking a bathroom mirror the following Tuesday.
Another said she attacked a tutor on Friday.
A third documented an attempt to run away during a family dinner that had not yet occurred.
The reports were ready.
Only the dates needed to arrive.
Vanessa and Keller planned to manufacture a pattern severe enough for emergency placement.
House cameras revealed earlier incidents.
Vanessa poured cereal onto the floor, then photographed Lily beside it.
She loosened a shelf before a toy collection fell.
She deleted school messages praising Lily’s behavior and forwarded only one teacher’s concern about grief.
The child was not perfect.
She cried easily.
She resisted bedtime.
