News of the case spread after Keller’s arrest.
Reporters gathered outside Mercer Logistics.
They wanted a father’s rage, a villainous stepmother, and a dramatic rescue.
Daniel gave them something less flattering.
“My daughter asked me for help before the night I entered her room,” he said. “I accepted explanations that were easier for me than her fear.”
His advisers urged him to remove the sentence.
He refused.
Daniel stepped down temporarily as chief executive because forged approvals had passed through his office. An independent director, Grace Lin, took control.
Investors complained.
Daniel answered that leadership without review had enabled the fraud.
He did not announce himself as Lily’s savior.
