Serena’s Letter to Her Younger Self

Chapter 16 - Serena’s Letter to Her Younger Self
During her sentence, Serena entered a restorative-accountability program.
She wrote a letter she was not required to send.
It was addressed to the girl she had been at sixteen.
She described waiting for Julian to notice her, listening to Victor promise she would own the manor, and learning that love meant possession.
She admitted that when Evelyn arrived, Serena hated her before learning anything about her.
Evelyn received a copy through the court advocate.
The letter did not ask for forgiveness.
One sentence remained with her:
I thought humiliation would make the world return what it never promised me.
Evelyn kept the letter in the restricted archive.
Years later, Serena applied to meet.
Evelyn declined.
