Mara’s First Decision Outside the Bedroom

Chapter 10 - Mara’s First Decision Outside the Bedroom
Mara discharged to a secure rehabilitation apartment.
She did not return to Blackthorn House.
She did not move into Lena’s home either.
Both choices surprised people who expected sisterhood to require dependence.
Mara selected the apartment, medical team, and security arrangements herself.
Her first decision was to release a limited statement.
“I underwent necessary emergency surgery after an injury. The injury was not caused by a fall. Legal and medical documents were created without my informed consent.”
She did not release photographs of the bruises.
Evidence had been preserved.
Her body did not owe the public proof.
Media outlets called Lena the heroic sister who discovered the truth.
Lena corrected them.
“Mara spoke. A nurse recorded. Independent doctors documented. Detectives secured the evidence. I recognized bruising.”
She refused to turn professional observation into rescue mythology.
