The Recorder in the Silver Case

Chapter 06 - The Recorder in the Silver Case
The digital recorder belonged to Naomi Chen, a junior recovery nurse at Vale’s private surgical clinic.
Naomi contacted Serena after hearing about Mara’s transfer.
She had hidden the recorder inside the medication case.
The night after surgery, Naomi heard Adrian and Dr. Vale discussing legal papers beside Mara’s bed. Mara was heavily sedated but awake enough to refuse.
Naomi reported the conversation to her supervisor.
She was told the family had authorized everything.
The next morning, her access badge stopped working.
Before leaving, she placed the recorder where she hoped Mara or a family member would find it.
The full audio contained forty-three minutes.
Vale instructed Adrian to wait until the sedative peaked.
Attorney Price explained which pages required Mara’s signature.
Adrian asked whether a shaking hand would invalidate the transfer.
Price answered:
“Not if the medical witness certifies a lucid interval.”
Vale replied:
“I can certify whichever interval the transaction requires.”
Later, Adrian said:
“Once the shares move, the marriage can end.”
Mara listened from her hospital bed.
The sentence hurt more than the shove.
Violence had announced danger.
The private plan revealed duration.

Adrian had not lost control in one moment.
He had created a future in which Mara’s marriage, health, and legal identity were all temporary tools.
