The Trial of Adrian Voss

Chapter 13 - The Trial of Adrian Voss

Adrian faced charges including assault, coercion, attempted fraud, evidence tampering, unlawful medication, and conspiracy.

The prosecution began with the library footage.

Jurors saw no graphic injury.

They saw a blocked door, a grabbed wrist, a shove, and Mara collapsing beside the desk.

Then they saw Adrian call Vale.

The audio recorder followed.

The false chart.

The forged signatures.

The future psychiatric notes.

Lena testified about the bruising with careful limits.

She described what the patterns were consistent with and what they could not prove alone. She did not diagnose from photographs or exaggerate certainty.

Adrian’s attorney asked whether Lena hated him.

“Yes,” she answered.

The courtroom stirred.

Then she continued.

“My feelings are not the evidence. The recordings, records, tests, and timestamps are.”

Mara testified last.

Adrian’s attorney displayed photographs of their vacations and anniversary dinners.

“You loved your husband.”

“Yes.”

“You appeared happy.”

“I was happy sometimes.”

“Then this was not a calculated prison.”

Mara looked toward the jury.
