Emma’s New Ceremony

Chapter 18 - Emma’s New Ceremony
Emma eventually married someone else.
The ceremony took place at a small public garden with thirty guests and no corporate directors.
She invited Adrian and Nora.
She did not invite anyone from Meridian Equity.
Before the vows, Emma checked the schedule herself.
“Any hidden board votes?” Adrian asked.
“Only a dispute over dessert allocation.”
The guests laughed.
The old wedding remained online, but it no longer defined her.
Emma became an advocate for pension transparency and conflict disclosures in family-controlled funds. Her father’s fund recovered losses after suing Meridian’s managers.
She never described walking away from Lucas as the best decision of her life.
“The best decisions came later,” she said. “Leaving only created room for them.”
Adrian understood.
