The Mansion Without A Party

Chapter 17 - The Mansion Without A Party

Ethan never moved into the mansion.

For months, the rooms remained closed while investigators completed searches. The pool emptied. The party furniture was removed. Without music and bodies, the house sounded like machinery waiting for instructions.

The trust council debated selling it.

Ethan proposed another use.

The mansion became the Northstar Accountability Center: legal support for whistleblowers, technical education for public-school students, and temporary housing for people threatened after exposing corporate wrongdoing.

The glass walls stayed.

Hidden cameras did not.

Every recording system required visible consent. No family member controlled the archive. The pool terrace became an outdoor classroom where students built solar sensors and tested small robots.

The exact place where Damon mocked Ethan became a workshop.

Lily donated her original party video to the archive with a statement about spectatorship. She admitted filming humiliation because she believed distance removed responsibility.

Victor taught security ethics.

Damon carried equipment.

Mara ran legal seminars.

Ethan attended community college classes between trust meetings because he refused to let inheritance replace education.

On the first anniversary of the party, the house system activated at midnight.

The compass symbol appeared.

This time, no crowd gasped.

A group of students cheered because their robotics project had successfully integrated with Adrian’s open-source network.

Ethan stood beside the pool wearing the same gray hoodie.

One student asked why he kept it.

“It’s comfortable.”

“That’s all?”

May you like

Ethan smiled.

“That should have been enough.”
