Three years after the trial, Elena stood inside Victor’s workshop while he restored an old tractor engine.
Oil marked his sleeves.
The billionaire looked exactly like the mechanic Adrian had mocked.
Elena asked why he never corrected the misconception.
“People reveal useful information when they think money is absent.”
“Did you know Adrian would?”
“I hoped he wouldn’t.”
Victor handed her a wrench.
She laughed.
“I don’t know what to do with this.”
“Then ask.”
