The Board Vote at Midnight

Chapter 09 - The Board Vote at Midnight
The Cross Meridian board convened at 11:15 p.m.
Adrian attempted to join as chief executive.
His access failed.
Ward Sovereign had suspended the patent and property licenses under emergency clauses triggered by coercion of a beneficiary.
Without those licenses, Cross Meridian could not legally operate its core platform.
The directors faced a choice.
Pause the company under independent administration.
Or proceed with Adrian and risk immediate insolvency.
Elena did not take the chair.
She nominated Grace Chen, the chief operating officer, as interim CEO.
Adrian called it revenge.
Elena replied, “Revenge would be replacing you with myself before review.”
The board voted to suspend Adrian, Camille, and every transaction connected to Laurent Strategic Holdings.
Ward Sovereign guaranteed employee payroll for ninety days, conditional on an independent audit and worker representation.
The midnight deadline passed.
Elena’s signature remained absent.

The company survived.
Adrian’s control did not.
