Chapter 05 - The Doctor Waiting Downstairs
Dr. Paul Renner waited in the hotel lounge one floor below.
He carried a medical letter declaring Elena temporarily incapable of managing corporate decisions.
The letter was signed at 7:10 p.m.
Elena did not enter the ballroom until 8:30.
Renner had not examined her that day.
When trust officers brought him upstairs, he claimed the report relied on previous consultations.
Elena had met him twice.
Both appointments were arranged by Adrian after board disagreements.
Renner asked about sleep, anxiety, and grief following Catherine’s death. Elena answered honestly.
His private notes recorded normal cognition.
The letter inside his bag described paranoia, aggression, and delusional suspicion of marital betrayal.
Camille had supplied the language.
Another paper authorized transfer to a private wellness clinic after the gala.
The clinic belonged partly to Renner and Camille.
If Elena entered, Adrian could restrict her visitors, control medication, and use the doctor’s reports during the midnight board vote.
Victor asked Renner one question.
“Were you planning to sedate her before or after she signed?”
Renner looked toward Adrian.
