Chapter 19 - The Last File
When Amara turned twelve, the children’s trust opened the final encrypted file from Bunny.
Leah appeared on-screen before the fire.
She spoke directly to her daughter.
“You may be told this toy saved you. It did not. A recorder preserves sound. People must decide to listen.”
Leah explained that she hid evidence inside Bunny because adults ignored children’s belongings.
She apologized for placing responsibility near Amara, even unknowingly.
“You are not the keeper of our family’s truth,” she said. “You are a child allowed to become whoever you choose.”
Amara watched with Leah beside her.
She cried, then laughed when the video ended with Leah demonstrating the wrong way to sew a rabbit ear.
The trust archived the file privately.
Amara chose not to release it publicly.
