Celeste’s Counterattack

Chapter 08 - Celeste’s Counterattack

Celeste filed an emergency motion for custody.

She claimed Julian had exposed Amara to a fire, a police raid, and a mentally unstable woman pretending to be her mother.

Her attorneys presented the hallway photographs and a statement from the mansion physician describing Celeste’s injury.

Ortiz provided the bunny recording.

The judge listened privately.

Celeste’s claim that Julian attacked her collapsed.

But the court still examined whether Julian had neglected Amara while traveling.

School records showed forty-seven absences in six months.

Medical appointments had been canceled.

Amara’s room had been searched repeatedly by Celeste’s staff.

Julian had not known.

The judge asked why.

He answered honestly.

“I trusted the adults I hired more than I checked what my daughter was living.”

The answer hurt his case.

It also mattered.

Julian did not blame work, grief, or deception for everything.

The judge appointed a temporary independent guardian while Leah recovered and Julian completed a family-safety review.

Amara would live in a protected residence with Leah and a clinical support team.

Julian could visit regularly.

He accepted the ruling.

Celeste expected him to fight.

Instead, he said, “My daughter is not a company asset to be won.”

The judge froze the trust shares.
